Michelle Martinez is an Athletics Australia level 2 advanced and IAAF active kids accredited running coach offering motivational and education group training sessions.

Michelle has a real passion for running having run competitively for some 20 years over distances up to 55km, and several ultra stage races. She is also a working mother with two young kids so completely understands the stresses of a busy life and the difficulty in making time for oneself to exercise.  That’s why the training sessions are designed to make the most of your valuable training time in the unique environment that is off-road running.

So if you want to be part of a fun running group led by someone who will understand your running needs and goals, whether that be to get back into running or run a specific time in a competitive race, Michelle is the person to keep you motivated and help you reach those goals.

    Hi,
I’ve just moved up to Brisbane and am really keen on taking up a new hobby now that I don’t work as much. I’m reasonably fit and like to exercise most days – am currently recovering from a lower back injury so slowly working back into running and the like. May you please provide me with your pricing for coaching, as well as some more information for your group meet ups etc.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Phoebe.

      Hi Phoebe,
Thanks for your message. As a group, we have 2-3 training runs per week. Wednesday mornings suitable for all levels, running up to around 7km, including speed work, intervals, hill reps etc. Every second Wednesday we have a track session, working on speed. The other weeks are on trails. Saturday morning is more an endurance trail session, 12-14km, with options up to 20km. A really fun, friendly, and non competitive group where you will also learn running techniques. Everyone is welcome and we offer the first session for free for you to come and try it out first. Further details are:

      * Wednesday mornings at 5:30-6:30am, meeting at the James Drysdale Reserve, Jinker Track, Bunyaville. This session focuses on either speed work, hill reps, single trails, and technique, and is between 6-8km in distance. Very suitable for all levels, including the new runner.

*Please note that every second Wednesday we train at the Arana Hills athletic track (grass), instead of trails (suitable for all runners, new and experienced!) Please follow our Facebook feed or website for updated info.

      * Saturday mornings at 5:45-7:30, meeting at The Gully Car Park, Old Northern road, Bunyaville. This session focuses more on endurance and also covers speed work or hills, and is between 11-15km in distance. Suitable for runners who can run around 12km, even if slow.

      * Every second Sunday afternoon we run a beginner’s/recovery trail run. This covers between 5-7km on trails, with plenty of rest stops along the way. This session is ideal for the new runner or for someone who would like to introduce trail running into their training regime. Also suitable for the regular runner who would like a recovery session. We meet at the gully car park, Bunyaville, unless otherwise stated. Keep an eye on Facebook/web page for further details.

      * Most weeks we have an extra evening session that is one hour long and is focused more on speed, may also include stair repetitions and some hills. Also suitable for all runners. Keep an eye open on our Facebook and web pages for details.

No one is left behind in any of our sessions, and there is always plenty of opportunity to take a break if and when you need.

At Trailblazers, your first session with us is free. After that we offer 2 options: 1 session for $7, or a 5 session pass for $30. We accept cash or bank transfer.

We also offer coaching advice and online personal training programs tailored to your needs if you wish to increase distance for a race or obtain a PB and require help to get there!

As you well know, training within a group environment is very motivating, encouraging, productive and is safer. Our main focus is for people to feel confident out on the trails, meet new friends and enjoy an inspiring, social environment.

If you need to know more information, please let me know.
